Typographic Posters

For my poster designs, in preparation I decided to look at other examples of minimalist typography, despite being quite a niche type of art, I managed to find several examples of work that really amazed and inspired me and possibly my designs.

The designs are simple yet elegant, and show their chosen scientist simply through only the use of the text in their name. There is an entire series of these to look through if these designs are of interest and I highly recommend looking at them. LINK
I hope to try create my work in a simple style like this yet still gets across my message for each of the posters.

Foil Printing

Foil Printing was invented in 1983 by american artist and inventor Virginia Myers
She was studying incorporating gold leaf and foil into her designs
Through her own ideas she created her own printer which she named The Iowa Foil Printer
Also referred to as an IFP

Both the roller and plate have to be heated for the process to work
Before the design was improved the foil had to be rolled onto the objects by hand

The plates are heated to around 200 - 250 degrees Fahrenheit

Even on darker objects, the foil comes out just as strong

And a short video on the hot foil printing process
